about

Enda Grennan’s first album as Pneumatic, entitled Mettā is a tape-saturated collection of densely packed yet spaced out textures incorporating some element of almost every popular genre of the past 20 years from UK garage to drum n bass and from New York house to bass focused hip hop. It is largely a culmination of four years of trying to coax 'musical' sounds from a modular synthesizer.

The album title, Mettā relates to the Buddhist concept of close mental union and informs the artist’s intent to bring together genres that don’t normally live together into a cohesive whole – unified by texture and noise.

Noise is in all its guises, constitutes the overarching focus of the album with scratchy analogue synths, tape machine hiss, clinically structured digital white noises and everything in between recalling the sounds of producers such as Machinedrum, Four Tet & Jon Hopkins.
